Steve Barrett Joins Johnson Health Tech

Steve Barrett – Matrix Fitness Brand Ambassador and Master Trainer – has now joined the Johnson Health Tech global marketing team as the Director of Global Group Training Education.

In this new role, Steve will work to create and deliver unique, global group education programming platforms, designed to help drive sales of the Matrix group exercise product portfolio and deliver on our Total Solutions Provider promise to our customers in gym facilities across the globe.

He will also build a global network of Matrix master trainers, working closely with strategic partners, our global product and marketing team, and sales teams across our subsidiary branches.

Steve joins us with an impressive CV. With more than 30 years’ experience in the fitness industry in a variety of roles, he has worked with fitness brands to develop global fitness products and programming, presented extensively across the globe in more than 50 countries, and authored six books covering topics such as personal training and HIIT training. For more than two decades, Steve worked with Reebok in various roles – he was one of only five certified Reebok Global Master Trainers in the world, and a member of the Reebok University Faculty.

Other accolades include developing and delivering exclusive programming for brands such as Race for Life, Nestle, and Kelloggs.

In the last five years, Steve has served the JHT UK team as a contracted Matrix Fitness Brand Ambassador and Master Trainer, so he is well versed in our commercial product portfolio. He has also consulted for Escape Fitness where he was part of the development team for The Escape Deck 2.0, The Escape Step, and the Core Momentum Trainer.

About his new role with Johnson Health Tech, Steve said: “This is an exciting time. Globally, I have witnessed radical changes in the ways facilities are designed, along with a revolution in the services and activities on offer. Users now think of their gyms and studios as being the ‘third space’ in their lives – a place not solely focused on fitness but a place to interact with friends and develop their social network.

“This new role will offer me the opportunity to contribute to the wider goals of Johnson Health Tech and I hope to generate huge levels of job satisfaction via the creation of new group exercise solutions that add value to the relationship customers have with Johnson Health Tech and ultimately ensure that all users of Matrix-equipped facilities achieve their fitness goals.”

Gemma Bonnett, Director of Strategic Marketing EMEA & UK at Matrix and member of the Professional Standards Committee Europe Active, said: “This is an exciting time for Johnson Health Tech and we’re delighted to have Steve on board. Steve has a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience, which our business and our customers worldwide will benefit from.

“Steve’s position will make an immediate impact on our global business, helping to solidify our commitment to our global growth strategy, demonstrating to our customers that we are our investing in training and education to help them provide opportunities for their members and achieve success in their gym facilities.”
